Admission Requirement for Basic Coaching and other Professional Sports Courses
Candidates must satisfy the following requirements to qualify for any of the following courses in the Institute:
Basic Coaching Course
A) BASIC COACHING COURSE – 3 Months
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 O/L credits/merits or its equivalent with at least a pass in English language.
CHOICE OF SPORTS:
Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Cycling, Dart, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Powerlifting, Scrabble, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Traditional Sports, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
B) BASIC FITNESS PROGRAMME COURSE – 3 months
Entry Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 O/L credits/merits including physical education/Health Education/Health Science or any other science subject or its equivalent with at least a pass in English language.
C) BASIC GROUNDMANSHIP CERTIFICATE COURSE– 3 months
Entry Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 O/L credits/merits or its equivalent with at least one in Technical Drawing, Physical Education, Health Education, Agriculture, Geography, Physics, Mathematics with a pass in English Language.
Duration: 3 months

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should satisfy the following requirements to qualify for any of the following courses in the Institute:
ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN COACHING (12 MONTHS)
- S.S.C.E./G.C.E. O/L with a minimum of 5 Credits or 5 Merits at a sitting or two (2) sittings in relevant subjects including English and a pass in Mathematics respectively obtained.
- N.C.E. in Physical and Health Education with Merit pass with 2 years cognate experience plus 5 GCE O/L credits or its equivalent at a sitting or two (2) sittings including English and a pass in Mathematics.
- Diploma in Sports Coaching/Physical and Health Education from any recognized Institution with a Credit pass and 2 years post qualification experience or Merit with 2 years cognate experience.
- NIS Basic Certificate in coaching with at least Merit Pass plus a minimum of 5 Credits or 5 Merits at a sitting or two (2) sittings in relevant subjects including English and a pass in Mathematics respectively obtained.
ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN FITNESS AND CONDITIONING (12 MONTHS)
- S.S.C.E./G.C.E. O/L or with a minimum of 5 Credits or 5 Merits at a sitting or two (2) sittings in relevant subjects including English and a pass in Mathematics respectively obtained.
- N.C.E. in Physical and Health Education with Merit pass with 2 years cognate experience plus 5 GCE O/L credits or its equivalent at a sitting or two (2) sittings including English and a pass in Mathematics.
- Diploma in Sports Coaching/Physical and Health Education from any recognized Institution with a Credit pass and 2 years post qualification experience or Merit with 2 years cognate experience.
- NIS Basic Certificate in Fitness and Conditioning with at least Merit Pass plus a minimum of 5 Credits or 5 Merits at a sitting or two (2) sittings in relevant subjects including English and a pass in Mathematics respectively obtained.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN SPORTS COACHING (12 MONTHS)
- A degree in Physical and Health Education, and other relevant fields with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division or relevant HND with a minimum of Lower Credit from any recognized Institution.
- NIS Advanced Coaching Certificate with at least a Merit pass plus 2 years post qualification coaching experience plus 5 O/L GCE Credits or its equivalent at a sitting or two (2) sittings including English and a pass in Mathematics.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN FITNESS AND CONDITIONING (12 MONTHS)
- NIS Higher Diploma in Coaching/ Sports Management or degree in Physical and Health Education, Physical Education, Health Education, Physiotherapy, Biological Sciences, anatomy, Physiology or related medical/ Health related courses from any recognized institution.
- NIS Advanced Certificate in Fitness with at least a Merit pass plus 2 years post qualification coaching experience plus 5 O/L GCE Credits or its equivalent at a sitting or two (2) sittings including English and a pass in Mathematics.
- NCE, HND or Degree in any discipline from any recognized institution or other qualification with significant years of experience the academic Board may deem sufficient.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT (12 MONTHS)
- A degree in Physical and Health Education, and other relevant fields with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division or relevant HND with a minimum of Lower Credit from any recognized Institution
