Rt. Hon. Comdr. Philip Shaibu brings more than two decades of public service to the leadership of the National Institute for Sports. As Director General, he is championing a wholesale renewal of the Institute — modernising its academic offerings, expanding research capacity, and rebuilding the physical estate at the National Stadium Complex.
A former Deputy Governor of Edo State and member of Nigeria's House of Representatives, he combines deep policy experience with a lifelong commitment to sport development. Under his leadership, NIS has accelerated NBTE accreditation, opened new postgraduate pathways, and forged partnerships with international coaching bodies.
